Careless Smoking Blamed For Fire That Killed 3

ELYSBURG, Pa. -- Officials said a fire that killed three residents of a personal-care home in Elysburg may have been caused by careless smoking.That preliminary finding was announced Monday after an investigation into the fire that destroyed the Twin Spruce Personal Care Home shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday.The victims won't be identified until they are conclusively identified.
Family members of a man and two women known to be missing have been notified.Authorities said they haven't been able to reach the company that owns the home, Vista Care Group in Kew Garden Hills, N.Y.Forty residents displaced by the fire have been transferred to other facilities in Northumberland County. The residents were all clients of the county's Area Agency on Aging or its mental health and mental retardation department.
