A Vietnam-era helicopter took of Thursday morning from Fort Indiantown Gap and landed on City Island.

The UH-1 Huey will be towed to Whitaker Center where it will be placed on display.

"For those of us who flew it in battle it will always be with us. There's a part of that stays with you forever and ever," Vietnam veteran John Travers said.

The Huey is on display as part of the Whitaker Center's screening of the movie "In The Shadow Of The Blade" honoring the Army medics who were aboard the Hueys and who risked their own lives to save the lives of wounded American troops during the Vietnam War.
