Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, SciTech High School and Harrisburg Area Community College have organized a free event for teachers, administrators, high school students and college students, policy makers and business leaders on biotechnology: The Capital Area Biotechnology Showcase Days 2007. Harrisburg University and SciTech High will host the events. Attendees can register to sign up for either February 20 or February 23. Each day’s program of events will run from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and take place at 215 Market Street in Harrisburg.

Each day will feature hands-on experiments, biotechnology and nanobiotechnology workshops, panel discussions, information on biotechnology careers, guest speakers, presentations, and Microcam/cyber slides workshops. Members of the Biotechnology Institute and Pennsylvania Life Sciences Greenhouse will participate in panel discussions. The Showcase Days are sponsored in part by The PA Department of Community and Economic Development, The PA Department of Education, the Innovation Transfer Network and Aptagen, LLC.

Dr. Yolander Youngblood, Director of the Capital Area Biotechnology Partnership and associate professor of biotechnology at Harrisburg University, is organizing the event.
