Dont miss Laughter Arts Festival 2004 At Whitaker Center on April 24, 2004. This specil event will feature Ralphie May, Doug Stanhope, and Kevin Pollack at the FORUM at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 & $35.
Ralphie May has been under many spotlights since the start of his professional career. He has appeared in movies, guest-starred in television shows and appeared in commercials. May has appeared on ESPN's Mohr Sports starring Jay Mohr, CBS's The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Man Show and MTV's Bash. The latest program May worked on was NBC's Last Comic Standing, which helped him become one of the most popular comedians nationwide.
At seventeen, May entered a talent show in which the winner would have the chance to open for Sam Kinison. Needless to say, May won and debuted in his opening act for Kinison, who told May that his act was the funniest thing he had ever heard.
For those who like their comedy raw and rough, Doug Stanhope is the man to hear. The Austin Chronicle says Stanhope is "…one of the most twisted individuals I've ever met, but that's part of his charm… He lives a mad, mad life and what he remembers he reports back to us. He's been known to bare his soul, and other things, right there on the stage."
Stanhope's material ranges from true-life graphic perversion to volatile social criticism. He is vulgar, opinionated, brutally honest and shockingly uninhibited, yet he manages to remain curiously likeable.
Before taking over as co-host of The Man Show on Comedy Central, his stand-up was featured on several television shows, including Comedy Central Presents, Premium Blend and NBC’s Late Friday. He has also appeared on The Howard Stern Show and SpyTV. Most recently Pollack was the host of Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown.
Prior to his film career, Kevin Pollak has been performing stand-up comedy since the age of 10. He became a touring professional stand-up at age 20, and then in 1988 landed a role in George Lucas' Willow, directed by Ron Howard. It was Pollak's role in the 1992 film A Few Good Men that garnered him fellowship among a select group of highly respected character actors.
After co-starring with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in Grumpy Old Men and its sequel, Grumpier Old Men, Pollak received an award from the National Board of Review for his work in The Usual Suspects. In 2002, both Variety and the Hollywood Reporter named Kevin Pollack as one of the Top Ten Comics to Watch.
