22M Adults Carry Digital Music Players

More than 10 percent of the population might not hear you if you try to talk to them when they're bopping by, a new survey from the Pew Internet and American Life Project found.Twenty-two million adults -- 11 percent of the population -- has an iPod or other digital-music player that could be popped in their ears.
The numbers do not include teenagers.Men are more likely to have the gadgets than women -- 14 percent to 9 percent.There were some ownership differences by age group: 19 percent of those under 30 14 percent of those between 30 and 39 14 percent of those between 40 and 48.The devices are also most common in households that earn more than $75,000 -- 24 percent of those have one.The results are based on a phone survey of more than 2,200 people.
