Civil War Group Threatens Gettysburg Boycott

POSTED: 4:53 pm EDT August 27, 2004

A national Civil War association has launched a tourism boycott of Gettysburg in Adams County.

The Sons Of Confederate Veterans is calling on its 32,000 members to protest an art display planned for Gettysburg College.

The organization said it will hold a protest rally over Labor Day weekend and then wants its members to avoid the Gettysburg area afterward. The art display is called "Recoloration Proclamation -- The Gettysburg Redress" and is scheduled to be at the college throughout September.

Critics call the artwork hateful toward the south and the Confederate flag.
